THE 3 PHASES OF GOD'S LOVE
THE 3 PHASES OF GOD'S LOVE(3)
Romans 12: 2 states that, " Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may prove what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."
As you grow up in the love of God, you start coming to the second phase of God's love. And this is the kind of love that is based on the acceptable will of God.
In this level of love, God begins to deal with individuals. At this level, you don't strive to express love by functioning through God, but by letting God function through you, because it's not your love but His. And this is going to be by faith.
In this phase, for instance, you may want to fast for certain people with particular problems, because it's nice, but God doesn't want it for you, and yet, it is not wrong; in the contrary, God wants you to fast so as to teach you of another set of people with problems different from those you preferred fasting for before. Not because your first choice was wrong. Infact He would choose your first choice to lead another person to fast for what you previously intended to fast for. But He may not lead you with the same thing in your fasting for the moment because there're certain things in the fasting of that other person that are not consistent with your fasting. Obeying God's voice in your fasting is what gives you supernatural qualities in your fasting ability.
Also it's like when the Israelites in 1samuel 8 and 9, when they wanted a king like other nations but it was not in God's will. But because they persisted, God accepted what they wanted, and it was even God who helped them in choosing a king, but God warned them that it would cost them in the future. This kind of love relationship with God is based on the acceptable will of God.
Another example is in numbers chapter 22-24 when Ballack the king of Moab tried to entice Balaam a man of God to go curse Israelites in exchange for great wealth and favour from the king. Balaam was forced to go and ask God twice if he could go but God refused him. But as the king persisted over the man of God, Balaam went to ask of God the third time, and God allowed him! That was God's acceptable will. But all in all, at the end of it, Balaam went to bless Israel instead of cursing them, because cursing Israelites was not God's original idea. When your love relationship with God is based on His acceptable will, He may allow to proceed with what you want but there're maybe negative consequences ahead of that. So this phase of love is not Good enough for you.
